Ridgely's Record
October2004

No Community Meeting
There will be a board meeting on Wednesday, October 6 at 7:00 at Camden Pub. The meeting is open to the public.

Board Slate
The annual election of the Ridgely's Delight Association's Board of Directors will take place during the November community meeting. According to Association by-laws, all nominees and voters must be members in good standing. A member in good standing is defined as anyone residing or working in Ridgely's Delight who has attended two community or board meetings or other sanctioned community events within the four months prior to the election. Following is the slate for the new Board:
President - Blaine Nelson
Vice President, Operations - Dave Burns
Vice President, Communications - Sharon Reuter
Secretary - Joel Schneider
Treasurer - Paul Harris
Parliamentarian - Brian Dale
Board Members - Barney Farnham, Mark James, Debbie Rhodes, Ken Hoefer
Additional Board Member - Jim Kuhl
At the November meeting, nominations will be accepted from the floor.

In line with the strategic plan's initiatives of by-law review and board member expansion, the following by-law revision is proposed.
The Board of Directors shall consist of six (6) elected officers of the Association and Five (5) Directors elected by the membership at the annual meeting. The terms of the elected Directors shall be one (1) years. Two Directors shall be elected each year.
2) Election of Directors: The Directors shall be elected by a simple majority vote by secret ballot at the annual meeting. They shall be elected for a one-year term and eligible for election as many succeeding terms as they choose to run and serve.

Traffic Report
The Komen Race for the Cure will take place on Saturday, October 9, and the Baltimore Marathon will be held on Saturday, October 16. Road closings will make driving a challenge in the morning, so plan accordingly.

Pigtown Festival
The third annual Pigtown Festival will be held behind the B&O Railroad Museum on Saturday, October 16, from noon to 5:00 p.m. The festival will include the "Running of the Pigs" through the streets of Pigtown, music, children's activities and Pigtown Kids' film festival, fine arts and crafts, food and information about the neighborhood. We need a few volunteers to man the Ridgely's Delight booth for a 2 ½ hour shift. If you can help, contact Bill at breuter@ridgelysdelight.org
410-385-1213.

Wanted: Editor
The Ridgely's Record is still seeking an editor. To volunteer, please call Joanne at 410-727-8060.

Bi-Annual Community Clean-Up
The Fall Clean-up will take place on Saturday, October 9. We will meet behind the Mobil station at 9:30 and clean up the neighborhood. Gloves, rakes and bags will be available. If you care, come by and help out for a few hours. The cleanup is a community-sanctioned event.

Join Citizens on Patrol, Get Free Pedometer
The Ridgely's Citizens on Patrol (COP) is seeking to expand. Join the fun, stay in shape, keep the neighborhood safe and get a free pedometer and walking log courtesy of Carefirst BlueCross BlueShield. New patrollers will receive 2-3 hours training from the Baltimore Police. The COP patrols about one evening per week, and members average four hours per month on patrol. For more information call Brian 410-752-8746.

Crime Notes
Free Outdoor Lightbulbs: RDA has several halogen bulbs that fit most outdoor lights and motion detectors. Call Brian at 410-752-8746.
Crime Tip: Crimes of opportunity, such as theft from auto, are an ongoing problem in our urban neighborhood. Don't leave CDs, packages, or anything else in view when you leave your car.
